30 Years as a Professional Finish Carpenter.
One Mission: Teach It Right.

Our Story

From Job Site Training to a Free Resource for Everyone

A professional finish carpenter doesn’t just build — they teach. Let’s Build Stuff started not as a website, but as a way to pass down real-world techniques to the next generation of craftsmen.

After 30 years working as a professional finish carpenter in residential new construction, we got tired of explaining the same techniques over and over every time a new crew member joined the team. So we started writing them down — step by step, tool by tool, the exact way we do the work on every job site.

What started as internal training docs for our crews turned into something bigger. We realized that if these guides were valuable to our guys, they’d be valuable to everyone — apprentices learning the trade, experienced carpenters picking up new tricks, and homeowners tackling their own projects.

So we made them public. All of them. For free.

What Makes Our Guides Different

Written by a Professional Finish Carpenter

Every guide reflects how we actually do the work — not theory, not textbook answers. These are battle-tested techniques refined across thousands of homes in residential new construction.

Complete, Not Partial

Every guide includes tools needed, materials list, step-by-step instructions, pro tips from decades of professional finish carpenter experience, quality check criteria, and troubleshooting for common problems.

Free. Always.

No paywalls, no premium tiers, no email gates. We built these guides to train our own people. Sharing them costs us nothing and helps everyone in the trade do better work.
