IntroductionWhat Changes for 8-Foot SlabsQC / Punch Checklist

Doors & Openings Skill Level: Intermediate (Level 2) · Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes Per Door

Introduction #

An 8-foot bifold or bypass door uses essentially the same installation method as the standard-height door. This Variant covers the extra reach and possible extra weight. Use it alongside the standard slab installation guide.

Use the standard slab installation guide for the base method. Choose the full bifold guide or full bypass guide for the hardware system you are installing.

Use the actual door weight and the hardware manufacturer's rating when selecting the track and hardware.

Which guide do I need?

What Changes for 8-Foot Slabs #

  • Extra reach: use a stable work stool when needed to reach the top hardware, and follow the stool's safety instructions.
  • Possible extra weight: the taller slab may be heavier. Check its actual weight before choosing the track and hardware; use a heavier-duty system when the door requires it.
  • The base installation stays the same: follow the standard slab guide and the correct bifold or bypass hardware instructions.

QC / Punch Checklist #

  • Doors open and close smoothly without dragging or binding.
  • The track and hardware suit the actual door weight and are securely installed.
  • Guides and pulls are secure and function correctly.
